70% of people do not take the simple steps to reduce exposure to asthma allergens and adherence to medications is often poor.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) and Asthma Health Outcomes Project (AHOP) stress the importance of educating the member or caregiver on environmental asthma triggers. These programs have shown reduced use of urgent care services, less school or work days missed and improved use of asthma medications.
